Unleash your creativity and make art, every day of the year. This handy pocket-sized journal contains 365 invitations to draw. Ideas and prompts are accompanied by space to create doodle-sized pictures.
From colour tests to shape challenges. Collage ideas to invention prompts. Engage with different aritistic principles and explore the different reasons for drawing. From expressions of emotion to practical designs. Be An Artist Every Day has space to try it all.
Why confine pencils and pens to mindless shading when they can be used to create? This is an uncolouring book. It encourages a daily drawing habit, something that can’t be underestimated when it comes to developing a craft or skill. Regular practice is the only way to grow a skill. The prompts provide excellent starting places for a creative session.
The paper is heavy enough for pencils and fineliners not to show through. It might be wiser to use separate paper for heavier paint and felt sessions.
This would be a lovely treat at the start of the new school year. It is no bigger than most notebooks and would slip nicely into a school bag for playtime or lunchbreak activities. It could also be used as a welcome home activity – one picture every day to unwind from the stresses and noise of a school day. The smaller size and intricate shapes of some of the activities would make it more suited to primary children and older. Although the book is pitched at young people, none of the activities specific to the very young and as an adult I liked how it explored different skill areas such as creating shape and playing with colour.
Dare to play, learn to explore, 365 times a year. The perfect gift for creative people.
